This reminds me very heavily of my brother and his creation of a website, e-book, and ultimately a nice and profitable online presence. Utilizing social media may seem like a daunting task, but the primary goal should be to make sales and draw attention to your website; however in a subtle manner. My brother utilized Facebook and grew his group to somewhere in the 100,000's if I do recall correctly. He wound up having so many individuals active on his page that he was able to sell ad-space on his group, then later he sold the Facebook group itself. I could not believe it when this occurred. Having interesting niche ideas can be beneficial!

I'm not sure what can be said, the statistics speak for themselves. Facebook owns the internet, or minimally in due time we should expect to pay penance for even be allowed on the website at all.

That video is very interesting. I like the art style, but the ideas presented are captivating and seem to define what a blog is very well. The idea that every blog shares a bit of news, whether it be some national story or a story about a mother and her family, seemingly makes the internet a more intriguing place. I almost feel like the virtual world (or "blogosphere" perhaps?) comes to life because of the range of content available. Interesting to say the least.

I think its equally important to point out that the quality of blog posts is just as important as the amount of blog posts. I'd rather read a sparsely updated blog with great content than one that is updated everyday but with little of interest. With that said, you have good recommendations.

I agree fully with your opinion of blog post length. I would say that most blog posts should be more like snapshots of a concept, as opposed a a theatrical film. Though, of course, as you pointed out, there is a time and place for everything. An occasional lengthy post can be worthwhile if it is well written and interesting, but in general short and too the point is definitely better; especially with so many things to intrigue an individual on the internet these days. It's not to difficult for a viewer to leave your page. It is, however, difficult to keep them interested in it.

This is definitely sound advice, though very minimalistic, on a topic that is essentially the most difficult aspect of building a blog. Driving traffic and getting people to actually subscribe/like your blog is incredibly difficult. The real issue is making sure the product being offered is legitimate and interesting. If you have a horrid blog, no amount of bribing or what have you will send you to the top.
